Problem description

Problems related to the correct creation of Roof as an element of Building structure are diagnosed directly in the process of drawing and after Computation of building structure through precise diagnostic messages and indicated places on the plan views and on the 3d model.

Red Roof edges

Red Roof edges may appear during modeling an existing Roof using the function Add roof edge; This error is displayed in the status bar when the program detects that the edges entered with the specified elevations in the roof editor:

  • do not allow for the creation of correct Roof geometry. The required geometry should consist of flat planes connected at the location of the inserted edges according to the rules of descriptive geometry.
  • do not reach the outer edge of the roof plane and do not have their continuation. Roof edges must be correctly connected to other elements of the plane to allow for correct modeling.

Red areas on the drawings

Occur after the Computation of building structure has been made. In window 2D editor and window 3D view such places are additionally marked with a pointing arrow. The presence of red areas signifies deficiencies in the project and is accompanied by corresponding messages, shown in the Diagnostics window:

  • Shape of the "%s" element is probably inaccurately drawn and this could be the reason for the lack of recognition of the room .
    This Warning is displayed when:
    • gaps between walls and roofs in the XY plane were identified during Computation of building structure . This may be the result of insufficient precision of drawing and the lack of placing / pulling the Roof onto the walls, causing the room not to be closed in the plan.

Message regarding roof passing through the ceiling

May appear after performing the Computation of building structure operation.

  • The slab(s) should be trimmed by roof(s). Verify and use the Trim slab (by roof element) function .
    This Warning is displayed when:
    • the Roof crosses several storeys (2 or more) and passes through the Slab element, which overlaps / intersects with the modeled Roof surface.

Diagnostic messages that may appear without identifying erroneous elements on the drawings:

WINDOWS/DOOR AREA IS GREATER OR EQUAL TO PARTITION AREA

This Error is displayed when:

  • The inserted partition such as Window, Door or Opening in wall protrudes above the Roof surface. In general, this is an incorrect situation from a design point of view, which leads to improper visualisation in the 3D model. Additionally, these may affect further calculations and cause such message to appear within the Thermal calculations of building.

Solution

Red Roof Edges

The occurrence of such elements means that they cannot be realised. In this case, it is required to adjust the Roof edge elevations and/or slopes.

Red areas on the drawings

Shape of the "%s" element is probably inaccurately drawn and this could be the reason for the lack of recognition of the room

Improve the shape of the element.

The slab(s) should be trimmed by roof(s). Verify and use the Trim slab (by roof element) function

Use the function Trim slab (by roof element). For more information, see: Trim slab by roof element.

WINDOWS/DOOR AREA IS GREATER OR EQUAL TO PARTITION AREA

Improve the shape of the element.

1. WINDOWS/DOOR AREA IS GREATER OR EQUAL TO PARTITION AREA .
