Description

This article outlines various methods for navigating the project, observing project structure and selecting project elements quickly based on specified criteria using Project browser, Search Window and Diagnostics Window.

Location in the program

Multiple elements can be selected using various software tools, as described below:

Graphical editor (2D editor and 3D view)

  • Selecting multiple elements one-by-one:
    - hold the Ctrl button and click on individual elements with the left mouse button
  • Selecting multiple elements in a given area:
    - hold the left mouse button and drag the cursor to specify the selection area.
    - perform a Select components in rectangle operation:
    - accessible in the context menu by right-clicking anywhere in the graphical editor;
    - available on the Main tools toolbar, under Edit section, after expanding Select icon.
  • Selecting all elements located in the given graphical editor and belonging to the active editing scopes:
    - use the Ctrl+A key combination;
    - perform a Select all operation, accessible on the Main tools toolbar, under the Edit section.
  • Selecting multiple elements using specified criteria with the use of the right mouse button context menu:
    -Select all by criteria;
    -Select in rectangle by criteria.

Project browser

Facilitates navigation and observation of the project's structure and elements. To use the function, activate the appropriate window.

1. Project browser location.


Select the necessary Scope (eg. Building structure, Thermal systems) from a drop-down list located at the top of the window.
Elements of defined type used in the project can be found by using the following functions:

  • Select in rectangle components of defined type;
  • Select all.

All elements of the project are grouped into their respective types, and each particular project element can be found in the expanded list within the group.
To speed up the process of searching and selecting elements, the following options are provided:

  • Expand tree to "%s" level - expand groups of elements to a defined level (menu available after a right-click);
  • "Quick collapse" the list of elements by Collapse all or Leave expanded, collapse other (menu available after a right-click);
  • Use the search bar at the top of the Project browser window to find any group of elements within the project;
  • Frequently used groups of elements can be fixed at the top of the Project browser window using the pushpin icon;
  • Use the Sort by command to perform automatic room sorting.

Search window

Allows users to select elements of a defined type with additional selection criteria. To use this function, activate the appropriate window.

Example 1: Editing the Partition structure for the defined type of External wall using the Select all function in the Project browser window.

Additional information

Correction of the selection:

  • There is a possibility to deselect individual elements by holding the Ctrl button and clicking the left mouse button on a previously selected element.
