Scope of lesson

This article presents the quick way of designing radiant heating/cooling loop circuit systems (wet and dry type). The aim of this simple approach to designing is to obtain approximate heat and flow results and to draw up a rough bill of materials.

Modules and program configuration

InstalSystem 5 with the module:

  • Radiant systems.

Inital state

The building structure (storeys, rooms) is defined, plans of storeys are provided. The values of heat load in rooms are specified for heating and cooling.

The selected steps to perform are included in the basic course of radiant heating and cooling design with loop circuit systems (wet and dry type) and constitute a simplified form of operations described in:

Edit installation - radiant system

Heating/Cooling Zone

  1. Insert Heating/Cooling Zones into rooms using the Floor (in each room) function. Repeat the operation for each storey. Insert Wall (manual) in selected rooms.

Manifold

  1. Place manifolds in approximately defined locations.

Calculations and diagnostics

Verification of results

  1. Verify calculation results, diagnostics and bills of materials paying special attention to:
    • List of radiant heating components for all the key components of the system.
