Description
The article describes the way of creating a building structure with additional levels, for example, a lowered level of living rooms, a stair landing with platforms displaced relative to the ordinates of the main storeys, buildings with mixed use (for example, sports or storage halls with adjoining office space). The advantage of this path is that despite the coordinate shift, the design is performed on a one worksheet with a one underlay.
Location in the program

Examples of use
Scenario I. Preparation of simplified building structure with additional and internal levels with the use of manual rooms
Create main storey
For more information, see: Creating main storey.
Create additional and internal storey levels
The main storey levels are the basis for creating the worksheets used for the further designing. An additional or internal levels assigned to the main level will give additional elevations while remaining on the same worksheet.
The functions used to create building constructions with different storey levels are located in the Storeys management field in the General data window, the Building and surroundings section:
- Add additional storey level;
- Add internal storey level.
The assigned additional or internal level receives a name of the main storey level with an apostrophe ('), then with two apostrophes (") and so on.
Note: The Internal storey level can also be assigned to the Additional storey level. In this case, the upper coordinate of the internal level will be equal to the upper coordinate of the additional level.
For the created levels, specify all necessary parameters:
- Hs - Storey elevation;
- Elevation of roof top - is set for the upper Additional storey level;
- Storey height - for the Additional storey level.
Use Copy function to copy the main storey with the created additional and internal levels at the given parameters or Add new storey above / Add new storey below functions to create new main storey and then create new additional and internal levels.
Note: Created levels can be deleted separately or together with the main storey.
In the case of necessity change the following parameters in the Data table window:
- Type of the level;
- Levels section - Allows to control the order in which additional and internal storey levels are displayed. It can take both positive and negative values. It cannot take the value 0 for additional storey levels. Default value is 0 for main storey levels.
Attention! There is a direct interrelation between the following parameters of a storey and the parameters of the building. The modification of them for the particular Storey affects the changing of the parameters of the entire sequence of Main Storey, Additional storey level and Internal storey level elements:
- ha (Storey height) - if this field is changed:
- for the Main Storey and Additional storey level comprising 0.00 elevation, starting from 0.00 or located above 0.00, the sequence of levels above is moved;
- for the Main Storey and Additional storey level located below 0.00, the sequence of levels below is moved.
- Hs (Storey elevation):
- changing this field for the Main Storey and Additional storey level elements moves the entire sequence of levels up or down, without changing the value of Storey height;
- if there is an Internal storey level within the above-mentioned elements, its value also changes by the amount of the change in the modified level;
- if Hs of the Internal storey level is modified, the value changes ONLY for that element.
- changing this field for the Main Storey and Additional storey level elements moves the entire sequence of levels up or down, without changing the value of Storey height;
Note: Сhanging the specified parameters for an Additional storey level will not cause a discontinuity in the arrangement of Main Storey and Additional storey level elements. This means that an Additional storey level level will always remain in sequence if there is another Additional storey level above or below it.
Import underlay
For more information, see: Import underlay files.
Create rooms
For more information, see: Preparation of building structure - Rooms layout.
- Choose in the list of worksheets the main, additional or internal level on which the rooms will be inserted;
- Insert the Room.
Note: Rooms located on levels other than the currently selected one are graphically labeled accordingly: the green indicator marks the level above, the red indicator marks the level below. - If necessary, change the Position of the Room on the main, additional or internal storey level by indicating it in the From storey/To storey fields in the Data table.
Scenario II. Preparation of complete building structure with additional and internal levels with the use of Building contour and Building generator
Create main storey
For more information, see: Creating main storey.
Create additional and internal storey levels
Steps to perform just like in Scenario I. Preparation of simplified building structure with additional and internal levels with the use of manual rooms.
Import underlay
For more information, see: Import underlay files.
Create rooms
For more information, see: Preparation of building structure - Rooms layout.
Insert Building contour
For more information, see: Inserting building contour.
The Position of the Building contour is based on the elevations of the main storey levels.
Automatic walls, slabs and roofs
- Run the function Automatic walls, slabs and roofs which is accessible in the Building generator section on the Main tools bar when the Construction editing scope is activated. This enables the creation of the partitions in spaces identified by the program between the rooms found in the design and the external contour of the building;
- Divide structural elements (slabs, walls or roofs) using the Division of structural elements function and with the support of the Guide line tool. Guide line allows specifying a guide line and additional snap points. Division of structural elements is the main tool in creation additional and internal storey levels. The correctness of its execution will depend on the correctness of the further path of creating the required building construction;
- Change the reference to the storey level in the Storey level field for the slab and the roof and the From level, To level fields for the walls; Note: it is not recommended to divide walls in the place of connection. In this case the best path is to unjoin the walls in the place of connection, specify the position of the corresponding wall and then join the walls;
- Use the function Correct wall connections.
Note: We strongly suggest using this function, espeсially in the case of connections the walls with different elevations. - If necessary: adjust the partitions, correct the shape.
Computation of building structure
Carry out Computation of building structure after which all created Room Automatic components will be identified within the area enclosed by the structural components.
For more information, see: Computation of building structure.
Insert windows, doors and openings in walls
Insert necessary sub-partitions (windows, doors, openings, etc.) after selection of the appropriate storey level. All elements are inserted with an elevation that relates to the active level.
For more information, see: Inserting windows, doors and openings in walls.

Additional information
Several tools are provided to simplify the handling of multiple storey levels :
- Storey levels visibility - allows to display elevations of storeys and levels defined in the Storeys management window;
- Edges view of the 3D model - allows you to change the visibility of level markers to a dashed lines and and vice versa;
- The data of the levels can be changed through markers straight in the data table.
